As a team, Mackersy Property love all forms of sport. From golf, to sailing, to skiing, we like to be part of the action, however, motorsport has long been our labour of love.
Motorsport has been Mackersy Property’s founder Ron Mackersy's sport of choice since the 1970s. He began rallying in the 1980s, competing in the NZ Rally three times, has competed in numerous Targa events (tarmac rallies) and in recent times has joined forces with longtime friend and co-driver, Warren Good to compete in three hour endurance races in a TCR Golf GTI, TCR Seat and now a Renault Clio. Not bad for a couple of chaps in their early 70’s! There is even a Volvo Touring Car build project underway so the passion is strong.
Throughout the years, Ron’s family has always come along and supported which eventually led to his children taking part in motorsport events. His son Tim has excelled in the last few years with three NZ Championship Endurance race titles in the TCR Golf as well as numerous awards for both racing on the track and rallying.
The love for the sport has also spread through the Mackersy Property office with our Director of Investment & Asset Management, Hamish Wilton, competing in various targa events, some gravel rallies and now endurance racing steering in a 700hp Ford Falcon Super Tourer.
With such a strong history in the sport, Mackersy Property is proud to support motorsport. This involvement has created long standing relationships with many clients and investors.
Next up for Hamish and Ron will be another assault on the South Island Endurance Series in the Spring whilst Tim Mackersy is looking to compete in as many rounds of the NZ Rally Championship as possible.
