Andrew Evans has been appointed an Independent Director and Chair of Mackersy Property effective from May 2021
Andrew has over 25 years’ experience in commercial real estate and asset management, having held executive leadership positions in listed and unlisted real estate investment businesses. He is the Chairperson of Accessible Properties NZ Limited and Infinity Investment Group Holdings Limited, a Director of Vital Healthcare Property Trust, Holmes Group Limited, Holmes GP Fire Limited and Trust Investments Management Limited. He is also a former director of Argosy Property Limited.
Andrew’s credentials include being a past National President of the Property Council of New Zealand, a fellow of the New Zealand Property Institute, and a government appointee to the Land Valuation Tribunal. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors of New Zealand and is on the Institute’s Auckland Branch Committee.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Business Studies and MBA (with distinctions) from Massey University and a Diploma in Finance from Auckland University.
Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Board. He will ensure accountability within and leadership, strategic advice and governance support for the Director group.
Adam heads the property investment activities of Mackersy Property and is primarily focused on the acquisition and syndication of commercial property. This includes overseeing the initial acquisition process, the legal due diligence process and negotiating attractive finance and lease terms. Adam is a former Director of Mackersy Legal and a current Director of a number of private companies. He also provides expert advice and guidance to the management team.
He has significant knowledge of resource management, property law, finance and development projects, along with experience advising a wide range of clients and entities. He holds Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science degrees as well as a Masters in International Business and Law.
Sam is Executive Assistant to Adam Copland, Director of Investment & Transactions. She has an extensive background in the United Kingdom and New Zealand as an Executive Assistant in legal and justice systems.
Her strength in business administration brings a systematic and organised approach to the company while supporting Adam and the wider Property Investment team. With a history supporting high level Directors, Executives, Managers and Advisors, Sam has a focus on flexibility, assertiveness and superior communication.
Tim works in Mackersy Property’s Investment Team in our Queenstown office. After many successful years working with Colliers as a Commercial Broker, Tim brings a wealth of experience in lease negotiation and investment sales. Tim will continue utilising his skills across Mackersy Property’s portfolio throughout New Zealand.
Tim holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Otago and a Post Graduate Diploma in Valuation from Lincoln University.
As consultant to Mackersy Property, Ron is closely involved with the property syndication business, including assisting with the identification and evaluation of new investment opportunities, negotiating acquisitions and mentoring team members.
Ron founded Mitchell Mackersy Lawyers’ commercial property syndication business in the mid 1990s, which continues today under Mackersy Property. Prior to that he forged a successful career as in the legal and business arenas spanning several decades. He is highly regarded as an astute legal and business professional and a trusted advisor to his loyal client base, as well as to a great number of his staff and personal contacts.
Omea heads the Investor Relations & Operations team for Mackersy Property. She is responsible for presenting new commercial property investment opportunities to investors with a focus on continual improvement, detailed investment memoranda on each investment, which forms a key part of investors’ due diligence and leading the investor relations team, communications, investment administration team and divestments.
Omea is an experienced professional investor relations manager in the commercial property sector. She has extensive legal experience working in a dynamic legal practice environment for over 20 years. She has completed a BSc and MBA at Otago University, is an independent director on a small number of Mackersy Property investments and a trustee of a not-for-profit organisation in Tauranga.
Jenna is Executive Assistant to Omea Willows, Director of Investor Relations & Operations. In addition to her EA role she brings a wealth of knowledge in processes and systems, having an integral role in continuous improvement across all aspects of the investment operation business. She is also involved in a number of internal special projects, bringing her attention to detail and efficiency to the table. Jenna is an integral part of the business and brings a fresh methodical approach to the team, having joined after working as an Executive Assistant in Auckland to Spark directors.
Marianne ensures the delivery of information to investors is accurate and timely, including communication during the application process, ensuring compliance and eligibility requirements are met in accordance with the Financial Markets Conduct Act and the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act. Marianne is diligent, efficient and effective at her communication back to investors being an integral and key player in Mackersy Property’s investor relations team.
Fiona is an integral part of Mackersy Property’s Investment Team. As an investment administrator, she coordinates communication with investors during the application process ensuring compliance and eligibility requirements are met in accordance with the Financial Markets Conduct Act and the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act. Fiona has a strong background in various recruitment, sales and administration roles.
Gemma has an entrepreneurial background having established and managed two successful online businesses in the United Kingdom and in New Zealand. Her attention to detail, matched with experience in account management, exemplary customer service and financial analysis ensures Gemma provides our clients with a seamless experience.
Collaborating with the wider investment team, Gemma ensures compliance and eligibility requirements are verified in accordance with the Financial Markets Conduct Act and the Anti Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act.
Kimberley ensures the accurate and timely filing, paying and reporting of financial and tax obligations of the Limited Partnerships and Companies which own the buildings in Mackersy Property’s portfolio.
With notable attention to detail and exceptional work ethic, Kimberley has a strong background in customer service, having held several client service-oriented positions in Spain, Sweden and New Zealand.
Originally from Canada, Alison lived in Ireland for two years to travel and work within Europe before making the move to live in New Zealand. Alison has a varied range of administration experience through her previous roles as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Collaborating with the wider investment team, Alison ensures compliance and eligibility requirements are verified in accordance with the Financial Markets Conduct Act and the Anti Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act.
Following a successful career in marketing and communications across national and international sporting codes, and more recently in a fast-growing professional services firm, Kyla joined the Mackersy Property team in 2022 in this newly established role.
Energetic and customer focussed, Kyla places importance on building relationships while leading and collaborating across all areas of the business. Her whole-picture perspective produces multi-channel communication and marketing strategies which enhance the company’s profile and client experience.
With previous experience in marketing, communications and social media, Aimee works closely with a number of people across the business to produce Mackersy Property’s marketing material including our information memorandums, website updates and social media profiles. Based in our Tauranga office, Aimee also assists the team as our busy Office Administrator.
Aimee holds a Master of Commerce with a major in marketing from the University of Canterbury.
Tess works across Mackersy Property’s business focusing on the continuous improvement of the business. She takes particular responsibility for Human Resources and works closely with the Investment and Finance Teams in the areas of Compliance, Privacy, policy development, and communications. She holds the privileged position of running Mackersy Property’s Scholarship Programme.
Tess trained as a teacher and then as a lawyer, becoming a partner in Mitchell Mackersy Lawyers (Mackersy Property’s predecessor), and holding that role for 21 years. She is a Member of the Institute of Directors and brings her business experience and knowledge of private client and business law, property law, Trusts and estates to her various roles in Mackersy Property. Her particular love is her interactions with the team and encouraging their growth in their roles.
Hamish is responsible for the overall strategic management of assets under management at Mackersy Property. This includes working with all tenants, funders, investors and stakeholders to ensure that our assets are performing to their potential. With 15 years’ experience as a commercial property, development and construction lawyer, Hamish also assists the acquisition team and takes a strategic, logical and practical approach to ensure that our assets and investors needs are looked after.
Hamish is a former Director of Mackersy Legal and current Director of a number of private companies and not for profit organisations. He holds Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science degrees.
Aaron heads the Asset Management alongside Hamish Wilton. With an extensive and varied background across the management of commercial assets, commercial real estate and investment banking, Aaron brings a fresh level of expertise in strategy, finance and relationship building. Managing a varied portfolio across the North Island, Aaron has previously served as a Chair on the Eastern Bay Energy Trust and on the Board of the Whakatane District Council, NZ Motion Pictures Association and on the Eastern Bay of Plenty Chamber of Commerce. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Management Studies, is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds qualifications as an Accredited Advisor for the NZSE and ASIC.
Dale is based in Mackersy Property’s Christchurch office and oversees the management of the company’s large commercial property portfolio throughout New Zealand. Among his key responsibilities are ensuring the company delivers its property management services on time, within budget and to the highest quality standard.
Dale’s areas of focus include maintaining strong relationships with directors of the syndicate-owned properties in Mackersy Property’s portfolio. He has a decision-making role on high-level management matters and is also responsible for inducting new acquisitions into the management portfolio. Dale is also responsible for the company’s professional team of property and facilities management staff based in four locations throughout New Zealand.
As a highly experienced property management professional, Dale places particular emphasis on the importance of building positive working relationships. He maintains an extensive network of contacts throughout the industry, which adds significant value to Mackersy Property and its stakeholders.
Prior to joining Mackersy Property in 2011, Dale built a strong background in the property industry. This included managing the Church of England’s large commercial property portfolio across the London Diocese. He is an associate of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand and the New Zealand Institute of Management.
Michael joined Mackersy Property when the company purchased Hamilton property company GBG Management in 2022.
Michael has over 20 years’ experience in Asset and Facilities Management. He sustains excellent tenant and contractor relationships to ensure a range of assets are maintained and managed to an excellent standard.
Kirita's role as Team Leader includes providing mentorship and guidance to Mackersy Property’s team of property managers; development of the property management team; and assistance in learning & development programmes for property managers, especially for newer members of the team.
She is also responsible for the management Mackersy Property's Private Portfolio throughout New Zealand.
Kirita has 20 years’ experience in the property industry, encompassing property management and other roles in the commercial, residential and government sectors. She has a passion for property and has built a reputation for an efficient, customer-focused approach, forming strong working relationships based on trust and delivering on agreed targets.
Emily manages several retail complexes and office buildings in Queenstown’s fast-growing Frankton commercial precinct. These larger-scale assets, with multiple tenants, require well-honed management skills and experience to ensure they continue to perform optimally for their investor owners.
As team leader in the Queenstown office, Emily oversees the activities of Mackersy Property’s local team of property and facilities managers supporting the learning and development of new staff. Prior to joining Mackersy Property, Emily spent six years working for Stride Property Limited in a support role to the Centre Manager at Remarkables Park Town Centre in Queenstown.
Sonia manages a portfolio of key properties around the country. These include several large, multi-tenanted commercial assets – Show Place Business Park, Christchurch, and the EntX Entertainment Central (Hoyts cinema and hospitality development in Christchurch CBD). She also manages several large-scale industrial properties.
Among her areas of expertise is the management of large complexes with multiple tenants, with her experience in this area equipping her with the skills required to manage some of the flagship assets in Mackersy Property’s portfolio.
Sonia places high importance on good customer relations and delivering a consistently professional standard of service and has over 10 years’ experience in commercial property and asset management gained in Auckland and Christchurch. She holds a Bachelor of Property (Valuation and Property Management) from The University of Auckland.
Penny manages a large portfolio of over 50 commercial and industrial investment properties around New Zealand. This requires significant skills and expertise to oversee a large number of leases, as well as build effective working relationships with tenants.
Prior to joining Mackersy Property, Penny worked in real estate administration and has also worked in property investment with Ngāi Tahu Property. She has outstanding attention to detail, a wide range of experience and a comprehensive understanding of the real estate industry, as well as effective communication skills.
Lisa is responsible for managing some of Mackersy Property’s key retail and commercial investment properties in Frankton and central Queenstown, as well as several commercial and industrial properties in Invercargill.
In addition to her Invercargill property management portfolio, Lisa is the Centre Manager for a new purpose built complex in Invercargill, which features a new Kmart store along with a range of smaller retail and food outlets.
Lisa brings significant experience in customer-oriented service roles to her position, which makes her well-equipped to efficiently handle the many aspects of leasing and property management involved with the investment portfolio.
Ryan has returned to commercial property management after working the past 15 years in a variety of property industries including residential and commercial property management, real estate and building. Ryan’s extensive background across all areas of property contributes to his practical approach, sound understanding of property matters and strong business acumen. The success of the property management team is strengthened by Ryan’s attention to detail, commitment to excellence and well-developed people skills.
Collaborating with our Property Management and Facilities Management teams, Jackson’s focus is providing essential support to ensure the successful management and growth of assets within our portfolio.
With a keen interest in investment property and a motivation for continued learning, Jackson was previously employed as a Project Manager with Investment Build New Zealand where he applied his skills in due diligence, feasibility studies and land acquisition.
Jackson holds a Bachelor of Land and Property Management from Lincoln University.
Having completed his Bachelor of Commerce at Otago University in 2020, Harry is now studying towards a Graduate Diploma in Property Valuation at Lincoln University. Harry joins our internship programme working alongside our Property Managers in Christchurch. His confidence, attention to detail and drive for excellence, combined with his finance experience has further provided support to our Finance & Treasury Manager.
Currently studying toward a Graduate Diploma in Property Valuation at Lincoln University, Gaby joins Mackersy Property as a part of our internship programme.
The recipient of a Vice Chancellor’s Entrance Scholarship in 2016, Gaby completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Otago University in 2020. Gaby has a keen interest in finance and property and brings experience in administration, customer service and valuation. While studying in Otago, Gaby worked as an administrator and marketing assistant for a technology start up, allowing her to work across a variety of areas which have proved valuable for her understanding of business, accounting and marketing.
Gaby’s commitment to personal development and strong work ethic ensures she successfully manages her full-time studies and part-time work in our property management team.
After completing a Bachelor of Commerce at Otago University, George has followed his passion for property and joined our internship programme. Utilising his organisational and time management skills, George successfully juggles his work as our busy intern while studying full time at Lincoln University towards a post-graduate Diploma in Property Management.
George’s newly acquired learnings at Lincoln, are proving a valuable resource to the Property Management team across Mackersy Property’s four offices.
Gwynn heads the Facilities Management team and is responsible for leading the team of facilities managers, including overseeing maintenance and capital upgrades on the buildings in Mackersy Property’s large nationwide management portfolio.
Gwynn’s role, supported by Mackersy Property’s growing national facilities management team, gives the company close oversight of maintenance and compliance requirements across the portfolio. This is crucial in order to ensure all assets are operating as efficiently as possible for their investor owners, as well as ensuring they remain compliant with all regulations. Gwynn and his team’s work manage the financial impact to owners by closely monitoring preventative maintenance and capital upgrades to properties.
Among Gwynn’s responsibilities are providing detailed condition reports on buildings, as well as drafting and managing long-term maintenance plans for key assets in the portfolio.
Gwynn is a Building Surveyor, Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor who previously worked with Mackersy Property for over three years as an independent contractor. He brings a highly technical background in facilities management to the role.
As well as his Christchurch-based facilities management responsibilities, Richard also works alongside the Tauranga team on facilities management of the assets in the company’s large Bay of Plenty property portfolio.
Working closely with both Mackersy Property’s facilities management and property management teams, Richard is responsible for managing preventative maintenance on the company’s property management portfolio. His role involves building and maintaining key relationships with tenants, contractors and suppliers; liaising with all parties to address the day-to-day issues that can arise in a large commercial property portfolio.
Richard has a strong track record working in property and asset management in Christchurch and the UK. Over a six-year period in London, he worked for some of the most successful and largest real estate companies in the city.
Jordyn is responsible for the facilities management of our Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Auckland and Hastings assets with a key focus on preventative maintenance, compliance and reactive maintenance while building strong relationships with tenants.
Jordyn brings experience to the Mackersy Property after working in commercial property management for a nationwide retail group in Melbourne. She holds a Bachelor of Communication degree and a Diploma in Project Management.
As Facilities Manager, Alisa is primarily responsible for the facilities management of the flagship HOYTS ‘EntX’ development in Christchurch’s city centre. The building features a seven-screen HOYTS cinema on the upper levels as well as a world-class dining precinct on the ground floor, which is home to several food & beverage operators.
Alisa brings a strong background in facilities management to her role, including seven years as in-house facilities co-ordinator for Vodafone NZ Ltd. Prior to that, she spent six years with TelstraClear as a property services specialist.
Taking pride in delivering a proactive, best-in class support model, Alisa helps enable people to get the best out of their working environment. She also has well-developed skills and experience in RFP processes, stakeholder engagement and project management, all of which are relevant in her role in Mackersy Property’s facilities management team.
James is a facilities manager for Mackersy Property forming part of the national facilities management team. The facilities management aspect of his role involves arranging routine servicing and maintenance, building inspections and minor projects, as well as ensuring buildings remain compliant. On the property management side, James manages four Mackersy Property buildings in the Queenstown portfolio, one of which is a complex of 15 tenancies.
James studied mathematics and management at Nottingham University, aligning his career into real estate, working as a property manager.
After working for many years in project, property and facilities management for local and regional councils in the Waikato region, Charmaine joined Mackersy Property’s Hamilton office to manage the facilities functions across its varied North Island portfolio.
Enthusiastic about growth and development, Charmaine has obtained numerous qualifications and certifications in Health and Safety, Project Management and Facilities Management.
Charmaine brings a high level of professionalism to her work, with an ability to multi-task and remain objective in all situations.
After building a successful career with residential property build company G.J. Gardner Homes, Georgia has been able to apply her experience in Health and Safety, maintenance and contractor management working within our busy Facilities Management Team. Always willing to go the extra mile with a level-headed and commercial approach, Georgia excels in building relationships and problem solving to ensure positive outcomes for the company and stakeholders.
Anita is responsible for the health and safety aspects of the Mackersy Property portfolio.
Her role is crucial to Mackersy Property, by overseeing 200 contractors working on Mackersy Property sites throughout the country. She is responsible for pre-qualification analysis, undertaking annual reviews ensuring any person working on a Mackersy Property-managed site is compliant with health and safety regulations and is a leader in best-practice health and safety.
Anita is also responsible for assisting Building Warrants of Fitness (BWOF) matters. The project component of Anita’s role involves managing any work undertaken on properties that fall outside day-to-day facilities and property management, such as building refurbishments, extensions or upgrades.
Anita has built an extensive career in the local government sector, working in various finance and property-related areas within Dunedin City Council.
Nick is Mackersy Property’s Chief Financial Officer. He oversees the activity of the nationwide finance team and maintains key relationships with banks and other professional services providers.
Prior to joining Mackersy Property, Nick worked for a New Zealand-based multi-national construction and development company, where he held a senior role in the corporate finance team. He has extensive experience in property asset management, financial management and accounting within the commercial property investment sector in the United Kingdom. He brings strong analytical and communication skills and commercial acumen to Mackersy Property, with a proven ability to deliver meticulous results.
As part of Mackersy Property’s Christchurch-based finance team, Anita reports to the Finance & Operations Manager. As well as general Mackersy Property accounts duties, she provides day to day financial support to property managers, reconciles property acquisition settlements, assists with setting up new syndicates and acts as liaison between bank representatives and property managers.
Anita has significant experience in the accounting field, having worked in accounts roles for several organisations since the early 1990s. She is also experienced in body corporate accounting.
As part of the Mackersy Property finance team, Casey oversees the day-to-day accounting functions of a portfolio of syndicates and privately managed properties as well as assisting with the accounting function for Mackersy Property. Her role assists the Finance & Operations Manager and our Property Managers.
Casey holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accounting and brings external auditing knowledge and experience to her role.
Chartered Accountant Hannah Butt brings over 10 years’ experience in finance and accounting to her role of Property & Asset Management Accountant. With a broad background in auditing, property management, syndication and commercial property accounting, Hannah has worked in Australia and New Zealand before settling in Queenstown. Hannah holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Property from The University of Auckland.
Completing her CA papers under CAANZ, Rena brings over three years’ experience in accounting to her role as Assistant Accountant based in our Christchurch office. Rena studied Accounting and Commercial Law at the University of Auckland graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2018.
With a strong work ethic and pragmatic application to all her tasks, Rena has a passion for technology continually seeking innovative ways to improve her performance and support others.
Highly motivated and proactive, Jo has considerable experience in Property Administration, Change Management, Sales and Accounts. Her skill and expertise make her valuable asset to our Hamilton office and wider team. Managing the accounting and property administration for Mackersy Property’s North Island portfolio, Jo meets all tasks with a logical and pragmatic approach. Her proficiency in change management has been a huge advantage ensuring a seamless transition of processes and systems.
Mick provides expert financial modelling, debt structuring and treasury advice to Mackersy Property. His role forms a crucial part of the company’s property syndication business, including robust financial analysis of the tenants which occupy properties being considered for syndication. He also negotiates attractive funding packages for new and existing commercial property syndicates.
Mick brings 10 years’ experience in the finance industry to Mackersy Property. His career encompasses commercial banking, private wealth, foreign exchange and international finance.
Bridey supports Mick Pannett, Mackersy Property’s Finance and Treasury Manager. Her sound knowledge of financial institutions and markets, financial analysis and strategy combined with a continued yearning for knowledge make her a pivotal member of the team.
Bridey’s held previous roles in customer service and accounts analysis and her attention to detail ensures robust maintenance of the Company’s financial management systems and processes. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance, Valuation and Property Management from Lincoln University.
Anna joined Mackersy Property’s Christchurch office as an Executive Assistant with responsibility for Special Projects. Mackersy Property’s growth has meant she has since become responsible for human resources across the business.
Anna provides operational support and advice to Mackersy Property’s various teams in employee relations, resourcing, compliance and employee development.
With offices in five separate locations, Anna’s management of Mackersy Property’s recruitment and HR functions ensures the teams are appropriately supported, a robust candidate selection process is in place, and all new team members enjoy a smooth induction into the business.
Anna’s commitment to learning and development sees her leading the company’s employee performance management programme to ensure the teams focus on continuous improvement, professional development plans and the achievement of set goals – their own, and Mackersy Property’s.
Anna has an extensive background across human resources, health and safety, business management and operations.
Maria’s broad experience across multiple industries enables her to take an astute and practical approach when managing Mackersy Property’s busy Queenstown office.
Highly motivated with a passion to deliver over and above expectations, Maria manages the office, event management, building culture, providing HR support, and offering administration assistance to all areas of the business.
