Mackersy Property is a company which is committed to philanthropy and giving back to the communities in which it operates, and in which its people live, work and play.
It has always had a strong focus on encouraging and supporting young people to achieve their goals.
One of the ways Mackersy Property lives its values is by providing several scholarships each year for those aged 18 to 35 who demonstrate excellence in the academic, creative, or sporting arenas.
We call these grants our Emerging Talent Awards.
1. Mackersy Property Academic and Creative Arts Scholarships
Mackersy Property has partnered with the University of Otago to create an academic and creative arts scholarship programme. These Scholarships provide financial support of up to $10,000 per year to motivated and enthusiastic students in their second or subsequent years of study at the University of Otago.
Applicants for these Scholarships need a proven academic record and Mackersy Property’s financial support to successfully pursue their studies. Each recipient will become a Mackersy Property brand ambassador and align themselves with Mackersy Property's values of integrity, collaboration and innovation.
Two scholarships are offered: one in the Academic and another in the Creative Arts categories.
The scholarships will be advertised on the University of Otago’s Scholarship website and students need to apply via the University.
Mackersy Property is directly involved in the process of selecting the recipient of each grant.
2. Mackersy Property Sports Scholarship
Mackersy Property also offers a sports scholarship each year to the value of $10,000.
This Scholarship is available to young sports stars pursuing their sporting careers in New Zealand or overseas.
Applications are invited from those with exceptional talent, a national or international profile, ambition and the need for financial assistance either to achieve specific goals, or compete in international sporting events.
Each recipient will become a Mackersy Property brand ambassador and align themselves with Mackersy Property's values of integrity, collaboration and innovation.
In the sporting category, excellence and potential will also affect Mackersy Property’s selection decisions.

3. Russell Education Trust Scholarship
The Russell Education Trust was established in 2000 by the late Phillip Forbes Morrow of Dunedin.
The Trust was set up to provide assistance for foreign and New Zealand students studying at the University of Otago or the Otago Polytechnic who are disadvantaged politically, financially or educationally.
Individual grants of up to $2,500 per annum are available to successful applicants. Applications are due 1 November each year, although applications may be considered outside this date.
